Ancient Persia was one of the largest, strongest, and most powerful empire of it's time. It took over many neighboring cities and empires so that they could become one and be stronger than any threats to their country.
Rise: The Persian empire rose when Cyrus the great conquered King Astyages of Media, thus uniting Media into Persia. Media already ruled over Anatolia, Egypt, western Asia, northern India and even some of Central Asia. Combining this with Persia led to one of the biggest Empires of its time. King Cyrus was the main influence of why Persia was able to thrive. He led the army into battles, and he was a political genius, allowing him to expand even farther by ruling his people and keep them happy and faithful to him. He also was able to give new architectural ideas to the empire and he built the capitol city and named it Pasargadee. Persia started to take its first downfall when Cyrus died in battle.
Fall: After the death of Cyrus the Great, Persia started to slip. The new rulers didn't know how to handle such a big empire as good as Cyrus did, so the new rulers made poor decisions that made the people of Persia angry. Having such a big empire was a cause of the downfall. Since the people weren't happy, there were many places for revolts and the empire started wars inside itself basically. Then new rulers came in and started being greedy and they started hoarding silver and gold and weren't being fair to its people so economic struggles took place and eventually the empire fell on top of itself.
